A sole figure stands alone in a field in front of a row of houses. A blazing sun sits in a flaming sky. It seems as though the top of the houses are almost aflame.

House and Figure was painted by Vincent van Gogh during the last year of his life. Vincent walked into a field and shot himself in the chest, dying a few days later. He was suffering a very troubled mind. This painting in some ways reflects the mind of Vincent.
