Ivy by Vincent van Gogh, is connected with two paintings completed by the Dutch artist in Saint-Rémy, during the summer of 1889.
The original title was in French, Le Lierre.
Both the paintings are an oil on size 30 canvases.
The first version gives us a view of the garden of the hospital where Vincent stayed.
The second painting looks closely at the vegetation, yet also gives us just a small glimpse on the sunny paths beyond, perhaps showing us that there was light at the end of the tunnel for Vincent.
