La Roubine Du Roi

La Roubine Du Roi was painted in 1888 by Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh. It is an oil on canvas painted by Van Gogh in Saint-Rémy.

Vincent uses defining colours and brushstrokes in La Roubine Du Roi. By now Van Gogh has moved away from the dull colours and is using the more brighter colours of post-impressionism. Note the powerful sun in the background which has become common in many of his works.

Vincent always admired people who worked hard and we see that here in La Roubine Du Roi with hid depiction of women doing their washing on the banks of the river.
