MIDDAY REST

Midday Rest by Vincent van Gogh is an oil on canvas that was painted by the post-impressionist artist in Saint-Rémy in 1890.

This was a difficult time during the life of Van Gogh. He was suffering from returning bouts of epilepsy. Yet, through all his suffering, Vincent was able to paint this beautiful piece.

Note the striking blue sky in the background which was a favorite of Van Gogh. Two people, what appears to be a husband and wife are resting against a haystack. Vincent used heavy dabs of paint and wonderful blues and yellows in Midday Rest.
