STREET IN AUVERS

Street in Auvers by Vincent van Gogh is an oil on canvas that was painting firing the last year of his life in 1890 in Auvers-sur-Oise.

Vincent loved the small villages in Auvers and did a number of paintings of them. He seemed to happy when out and about in Auvers.

Note the heavy use of paint and the heavy brushstrokes in, Street in Auvers. Vincent has painted a very unusual sky. The rooftops of the houses are a striking orange. One cannot help but feel a sense of loneliness when we look at Street in Auvers. It feels as if the village is empty. Maybe Vincent felt empty in his life.
