THE HARVESTER

The Harvester by Vincent van Gogh was painted in 1889 in Arles, France by the post-impressionist artist. It is an oil on canvas.

Vincent has used an array of yellows, golds and oranges in The Harvester. The painting is stunning in its beauty and use of colours. One can almost feel the hot summer day.

By now, Van Gogh was firmly entrenched in the Post-Impressionism style. Vincent loved the land and the way people worked hard on it. Here in The Harvester, we see the worker under a hot day hard at work. Golden spiralling wheat fields waiting to be harvested at the foreground of the painting.
