Van Gogh's Chair was painted by Vincent during 1888 when fellow artist Paul Gauguin stayed with Vincent in the yellow house Arles.
Early in 1889, Van Gogh retouched the painting.
When Vincent was furnishing the Yellow House he purchased 12 chairs.
It was one of these chairs that Van Gogh used for the painting.
This solitary chair shows us a lot about Vincent and his life at the yellow house.
On the chair sit Van Gogh`s Pipe and a pouch of tobacco.
In the background sits a box of onions with the name, Vincent.
The painting also shows us the red terracotta tiles of the floor where Vincent lived.
