WHITE HOUSE AT NIGHT

White House at Night (La maison blanche au nuit), by Vincent van Gogh, is an oil painting that he painted on 16 June 1890. Van Gogh did the painting just six weeks before his death.

Vincent painted, White House at Night, during his stay in Auvers-sur-Oise. Astronomers have calculated the painting was done at 8 P.M. at night because of the star in the painting which must have been Venus. On June 1890, Venus was very bright in the sky at that time.

The painting was actually thought lost, but turned up in the Hermitage Museum in 1995. Van Gogh pays a lot of attention in this painting to the windows which are highly visual.
